NOTICE: Meaty Bone is not affected by the national voluntary pet products recall.

Thinking Of "Red"
The Michigan International Speedway media center is shy a familiar face this race weekend, one that first appeared for the tracks first race in October, 1968. Lowell "Red" Reed missed his second race in thirty-nine years when he went to the hospital for an appendix operation. As happens far to often complications arose and "Red" is scheduled to spend another week. We wish this World War Two Marine, Good Health and have him in our prayers, he is indeed missed and LOVED by many.

Jeff Green On Red Carpet
Jeff Green, driver of the No. 66 Best Buy Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, will join sports and music celebrities on the red carpet in New York City this Monday, June 18th for the Sixth Annual Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope gala dinner. During the charity fundraiser, Green will accept a check on behalf of the Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF). Johnson will not be in attendance and since Samsung teamed with Best Buy the second quarter, Green was asked to do the honors.

NCTS Race Penalties
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series officials handed out five race penalties to four different drivers during Saturday's Michigan 200 race at Michigan International Speedway.

  • Matt Crafton - No. 88 was sent to the tail end of the longest line for pitting before pit road was open on lap 29.

  • DALE Arrives A Week Late
DALE, the only authorized documentary on racing legend Dale Earnhardt, will open Tuesday, June 19, 2007, after thousands of race fans have left the Michigan International Speedway area. The movie is well worth seeing by all and will be playing the next two weeks, Tuesday through Thursday, at United Artists in Walled Lake and AMC in Livonia and Sterling Heights in the Detroit Area.

    Calling All Fans
Where are the NASCAR fans of No. 9 driver Kasey Kahne when they are needed? Kahne and Shedd's Spread Country Crock had a lucky hood, called such because after signing Kahne won the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300, NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, his first victory of the season. The hood was placed on eBay and didn't receive a single bid before the listing expired. The hope was to raise funds for the Race to Share campaign that will provide Thanksgiving 2007 meals for those in need through America's Second Harvest.

    Adrenalin Junkie
Richard Childress, owner of Richard Childress Racing, just returned from a week and a half hunting trip in Auckland and Queenstown, New Zealand. "They take those helicopters to the mountains and they fly and take those skids of the helicopter and stick it right in the ground and you jump out of the helicopter, go find your game and shoot it. They'll fly away and then you go get your animal and then when you get your animal they're way up there and they radio them. They come back and they took the skid and picked it up, brought it back over and set it down. It's the damndest sight you'll ever see. Them guys are good. You're flying around waterfalls and glaciers. I've got some videos and it's just incredible what the helicopters can do. It's pretty wild. It isn't for the faint of heart, I can tell you that." Continuing Childress stated that he was going to Mongolia in September and back to Africa next year for a hunting trip. "I just want to do some of that. You get older and I've been in this 40-some years, you've got to take a little time."

    50th Birthday for 57 Chevy
The 1957 Chevrolet, a car which turns 50 years old this year, will be commemorated at the August, 3M Performance 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. A special '57 Chevy paint schemes will be carried by drivers Ward Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Sterling Marlin, Mark Martin, Paul Menard, Tony Raines, Martin Truex, Jr., Kenny Wallace and J.J. Yeley. To commemorate this special event, Motorsports Authentics will replicate their cars with die-cast models and offer apparel and novelty items related to the event. It is indeed true that generation, either wanted one, rode in one or owned a 1957 Chevrolet. Twelve years later, they were the body style of choice at local race tracks across the country, easily picked up for $25 to be striped down before rollbars were added.

    Fathers Day Tribute
As a tribute on Father's Day, David Stremme, Reed Sorenson and Juan Pablo Montoya each featured their father’s name above the passenger side window of their NASCAR Nextel Cup Series racecar in this weekend’s race at Michigan International Speedway. "With how big of a role that all of our fathers have played in both our professional and personal lives, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to put the names of our drivers’ fathers on their cars to celebrate Father's Day,” said team owner Chip Ganassi. “It just seemed like a simple but fitting tribute to their influence on us all.”

    Scalpers Arrested
Track Police arrested several scalpers on Michigan International Speedway property Sunday morning before the NASCAR Nextel Cup, Citizens Bank 400 race. One scalper with 25 tickets in his pocket was so brazen, he was only a few yards from the entry gate. No scalping is allowed on track property and any scalper in Cambridge Township must have a vendor license.
