Race Postponed Until Monday
The Autism Speaks 400 Nextel Cup race at Dover International Speedway has been postponed until Monday, noon Eastern time. The race was called because of heavy rains in the Dover area with more on the radar screen headed their way. The race will be carried on FOX networks, the last FOX broadcast of the season.

Jeff Hammond: Sources Say Dale Jr. Will Sign With Gibbs Racing
Jeff Hammond, FOX television racing analyst, says some inside sources are telling him that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will sign to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing, starting next year. Hammond also says that an un-named shoe company and Visa will share sponsorship on the car. The only sticking point in the whole deal is Earnhardt Jr. says he wants to remain with a team that runs Chevrolets and speculation has it that Gibbs Racing has been in talks with Toyota. "As I have said, I want to continue driving Chevrolets. That spells it out pretty good for a lot of people," said Earnhardt Jr. "Chevrolet has been good to me. They have complimented my Busch Series program. They have supported me and complimented me in my career. And just for a couple of extra bucks, I wouldn't want to go drive for another manufacturer. I don't have those relationships with those other manufacturers although I am sure there are great people working there."

Kevin Hamlin Fired By Bill Davis Racing
Bill Davis Racing released veteran crew chief Kevin Hamlin on Saturday. Hamlin, 47, oversaw the No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge with driver Dave Blaney for the last two seasons. Of all the Toyota teams, Blaney has qualified for the most races in 2007, but on Friday he missed his second race of the season. Blaney is 36th in points and had to make the race on time.

"With the competition as strong as it is, we just didn't feel like we were moving forward," said BDR's competition director Tommy Baldwin. "We had to do something, had to find that spark that would get the 22 moving in the right direction. We need to get both cars up to speed and we'll keep digging until we get there."

Baldwin, who was interim crew chief on the No. 36 BDR Camry before David Hyder came on board this weekend, will fill the same role on the No. 22 until a replacement can be found. Baldwin also hired Mike Cooper as the car chief on the No. 36 to work under Hyder. Cooper worked at Robert Yates Racing and Ginn Racing before joining BDR.

Hamlin began his crew chief career with Jimmy Spencer in 1991, but enjoyed his greatest success with the late Dale Earnhardt. The pair won their first of five races together at the 1999 Talladega spring race and posted 23 top fives and 54 top 10s in two-and-a-half seasons before Earnhardt's death.(foxsports.com)

Medicine May Be Causing Wood Headaches
Eddie Wood said son Jon Wood might be experiencing adverse reactions to prescribed medications, resulting in the headaches that forced him out of the car for the Dover 200 Busch Series event Saturday.

Wood left the track to see doctors following the first Busch Series practice Friday. Mark Martin practiced the car that afternoon and Travis Kvapil qualified and raced the car Saturday.

"Jon Wood got out of his car on Friday following Busch Series practice by his own choice due to headaches and not feeling well," Eddie Wood said in a statement released by the team. "He is presently being evaluated by doctors for these symptoms.

"It is believed at this time that he has been misdiagnosed with attention deficit disorder and is experiencing adverse reactions to the prescribed medications."

Wood, who was scheduled to run a full Busch Series schedule and a part-time Nextel Cup schedule, has been in several wrecks this year and was 22nd in Busch Series points entering the Dover race.(scenedaily.com)
