Jimmie Johnson On Dover Pole
Jimmie Johnson went out late in the qualifying session at Dover International Speedway on Friday and knocked Juan Pablo Montoya off the top spot for Sunday's Dodge Dealers 400 Nextel Cup race. Johnson turned a lap of 23.261 seconds around the one-mile tarck for a speed of 154.765 mph. It was the second pole for Johnson in 2007 and the 11th of 211 attempts in his career. Montoya held onto second and will start on the outside pole, along-side Johnson, on the high-speed, high banks of Dover, called the Monster Mile. Denny Hamlin will roll off in third followed by Kurt Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Scott Riggs, Kevin Harvick, Bobby Labonte, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth to round out the top ten. Six drivers failed to qualify, Ward Burton, Scott Wimmer, Sam Hornish Jr., Kevin Lepage, Dave Blaney and Jeremy Mayfield.

Red Bull Staying With Toyota
Team Red Bull Vice President of Competition Guenther Steiner reiterated Friday that his organization is not leaving Toyota for Chevrolet next season. Steiner dispelled the rumor that resurfaced again after a recent report in the Toronto Sun.

"It's not true," he said. "We are staying with Toyota for the future. It's sometimes quite annoying because we are trying to concentrate on more important things, which is for example, this afternoon's qualifying. It's not that we don't want to say that we're staying with Toyota, but you have to repeat yourself all the time." (scenedaily.com)

M&M's Will Move To No. 18 Team
Mars U.S. was finalizing a deal Thursday to use its M&M's brand to sponsor Kyle Busch when he moves to Joe Gibbs Racing next season. M&M's would replace Interstate Batteries, which has sponsored Gibbs' flagship No. 18 since its 1992 inception. J.D. Gibbs, president of the race team, didn't respond to a request for comment. But two people familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Mars was working on a deal to sponsor Busch that will be officially announced next month at M&M's World in New York City. They requested anonymity because the deal was not yet complete.

JGR is also ending its 16-year association with General Motors at the end of this season and will field Toyotas beginning next year. It will make the move with three lucrative sponsors as Mars moves its M&M's brand away from Robert Yates Racing and rookie David Gilliland. It's unclear what the company will do with its Snickers sponsorship on Yates' second car, but the move to JGR is troublesome to the Yates organization.(ap.org)
