B-Post & Helmet Decals Provided By NASCAR

NASCAR provided all teams at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday with B-post and helmet decals, honoring IZOD IndyCar race driver, Dan Wheldon, who lost his life at Las Vegas Speedway during last weekend's final race of the season.

NASCAR included a moment of silence in Dan’s honor prior to the invocations both Saturday and Sunday.

NASCAR Drivers Donate to Auction

Numerous NASCAR drivers donated race worn items to the Dan Wheldon Family Trust Fund Auction being held on eBay, starting October 24th. They include Jimmie Johnson's Talladega worn race helmet, plus items from Juan Pablo Montoya, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Max Papis.


Brunnhoelzl Clinched The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Title

George Brunnhoelzl III, held a 150 point lead, and only needed to take the green flag at Saturday's Caraway 150 at Sophia, North Carolina to capture his second NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour title. Finishing second he came away with the trophy and a final 130 point lead..


Alan Kulwicki Memorial Scholarship

Brantt Malloch, was awarded the 2011 four year, Alan Kulwicki Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provided courtesy of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company is given in memory of the late NASCAR Winston Cup points champion Alan Kulwicki who lost his life in a plane crash in 1993, on his way to Bristol Motor Speedway.


Regan Smith Supports The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation

Regan Smith's, red, white and blue special paint scheme helmet worn at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, was donated to be auctioned off at the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation gala, Saturday November 12 in Riverside, Connecticut. Their mission is to provide college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in combat or accidents.


Camping World Truck Series Infraction List At Talladega Superspeedway

The Coca-Cola 250 accessed 13 drivers, 18 penalties during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

  • Jamie Dick No. 02, Todd Bodine No. 5 and Dakoda Armstrong No. 98 all started at the tail end of the longest line due to unapproved adjustments outside the impound procedure.

  • Drivers sent to the tail end of the field for pitting before pit road was open, included Kyle Busch, Cole Whitt, Nelson Piquet Jr., Jeffrey Earnhardt, Johnny Sauter, Blake Feese, Parker Kligermann and Jamie Dick.

  • Crewmembers over the wall too soon, Parker Kligermann was sent to the tail end of the longest line.

  • Speeding exiting the pits was Johnny Sauter and Wes Burton.

  • Jamie Dick was put a lap down for running the stop and go sign/light and 3 laps later was sent to the tail end of the line for having to many crewmembers in contact with the pit service area.

  • Miguel Paludo was accessed a pass through penalty for jumping the restart by changing lanes before the start/finish line.

  • Patrick Sheltra ran the stop and go sign/light and was put a lap down by NASCAR.


    Don Naman Day

    The Alabama Legislature and Talladega County Commission proclaimed Oct. 23 to be 'Don Naman Day' in honor of Talladega Superspeedway’s 1970 and first general manager, who held the job for 18 years. Naman passed away in July at the age of 76.


    Kyle Busch Motorsports Announces Future Plans

    Kyle Busch, announced Friday during a media event at Talladega Superspeedway, that his company, KBM is transitioning into the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2012 to race a fully funded Toyota race team for the championship. The No. 18 truck will remain in the Camping World Truck Series for the full season next year. Additional information will be announced when the sponsor is ready.


    Phase 2 Starts After Good Sam Club 500

    When fans return to Talladega Superspeedway for the May 2012 race weekend the Tri-Oval and OV Hill South Towers will have wider, more comfortable, 22 inch wide, chairback seats with drip shields. The shields will work like a gutter system preventing fans under the stands from getting wet from rain or spilled beverages. Seats in the Talladega, Moss-Thornton, Birmingham, OV Hill North and Anniston towers will be converted in Phase 3. Remaining seats in the Talladega, Lincoln and Gadsden towers will be converted in Phase 4.


    Seriously - Free Tattoos At The Track

    Jeremiah Weed, a brand of bourbon whiskey-based products and sponsor of Matt Kenseth's No. 17 Ford, offered adult race fans free Jeremiah Weed and Matt Kenseth inspired tattoos Saturday. at Talladega Superspeedway. For every tattoo inked, Jeremiah Weed made a $100 donation to The Air Force Village, a charity committed to providing a safe, secure and dignified place for indigent surviving spouses of retired Air Force personnel.


    NASCAR Switches To Fuel Injection in 2012

    Beginning with the 2012, Daytona 500, all NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race car engines will switch to fuel injection in lieu of carburetion. Bosch will provide the race cars with two oxygen sensors in the exhaust system to monitor the unburned oxygen. “Oxygen sensors relay vital information on engine performance to the vehicle’s engine management system, which controls the fuel injectors and determines how the vehicle reacts to race conditions,” said Wolfgang Hustedt, Bosch Motorsports manager, North America.


    Talladega Superspeedway Sprint Cup Race Changes

    NASCAR implemented two rule changes for this weekend's running of the Good Sam Clubs 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The size of the restrictor plate increased by 1/64 inch and was 57/64 inch diameter. This provided teams with an additional 7-10 horsepower. Additionally, the pressure relief valve on the cars’ cooling system was recalibrated to reduce the pressure by approximately eight pounds per square inch from last April’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega


    Rockingham Speedway Site Of New Race Movie

    Tween idol, Zac Efron, and Dennis Quaid, recently were in Rockingham at “The Rock” learning to handle a race car and wrapping up filming on their latest flick. The movie, still unnamed, follows the story of a small-town boy (Efron) as he pursues his dream of becoming a race car driver. Iowa Speedway was also the site of some scenes.


    Unapproved Unauthorized NASCAR Sprint Cup Parts

    Three Sprint Cup drivers had their windshield confiscated on Friday during the first round of NASCAR inspections at Talladega Superspeedway The race cars belonged to Toyota's driven by Martin Truex Jr. No. 56, David Reutimann No. 00 and No. 47 of Bobby LaBonte. Windshields were on display in front of the NASCAR hauler with tags stating: Unapproved modification to approved windshield.


    Jeff Gordon Expressway

    Mecklenburg County Commissioners approved a stretch of I-85 on the Mecklenburg-Cabarrus County line as "Jeff Gordon Expressway", in honor of Jeff Gordon's No. 24 and his recent 85th victory. The NC DOT's sign committee and full board must still rubber stamp the Jeff Gordon Expressway designation on I-85 before markers go up for drivers.


    NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Infractions At Talladega

    Good Sam Club 500, accessed 13 drivers a total of 21 race penalties during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

  • Pitting before pit road was open Joey Logano, Jamie McMurray, Kevin Harvick (2), AJ Allmendinger (2), Juan Pablo Montoya (2), Kyle Busch (2), Kasey Kahne, Robby Gordon, Kurt Busch, Landon Cassill, Marcos Ambrose and Denny Hamlin were all sent to the tail end of the longest line.

  • Robby Gordon, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick were pulled into the pits for safety violations.

  • Trevor Bayne and AJ Allmendinger were sent to the end of the longest line for going above the blend line exiting the pits.
