Kenseth Given Gift Win At Atlanta

Matt Kenseth was given a gift victory on Saturday when leader Kyle Busch blew a right front tire with 25 laps to go and smacked the wall at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Busch had the dominate car all race, leading the Nicorette 300 Nationwide Series race for 153 of 170 laps when the tire let go. It was the second straight year that Busch was blowing away the competition when the team had tire problems. Last year it was loose lugnut that did him in with 10 laps to go. "I knew Kyle opened the door for everybody," Kenseth said. "There was no way anybody was going to beat him on speed. But he kind of opened the door, and we were able to get to the front and take advantage of it."

Kenseth held off a hard charging Kevin Harvick by .159 seconds during a green-white-checkers finish that took the race three laps beyond its scheduled distance. The victory was Kenseth's first of the year and 24th career win in the Nationwide Series. "I think we were better than the 17, but he was better than we were for a couple of laps." said Harvick.

Jeff Burton, who could barely hold on to his Richard Childress Chevrolet, managed to finish third over Carl Edwards and Bobby Labonte. Rounding out the top ten were Brad Keselowski, Mike Bliss, Jason Leffler, Kasey Kahne and David Reutimann. Kyle Busch finished a distant 24th. Busch said that he had no indication the tire was going down, he also blew a right front tire last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. "Obviously we had the dominant car," said Busch. "Farm Bureau and Toyota should be real proud, I'm just sorry about the fact that we blew another right-front tire." The Nationwide Series moves to Bristol Motor Speedway next Saturday March 15th for the Sharp Mini 300.
